As we can mostly have this as evening snacks but you can make this in breakfast also if want something fried and hot in this chilly freezing winter. rainy season also give some craving for this bread roll with hot cuppa tea. we always ended up with leftover bread. bread roll is the best solution to consume this as you need boiled and mashed potato for stuffing only. few tips and tricks i would like to give as per my personal hands on experience in making bread roll. here i am using only mashed potato but if you want you mix paneer and vegetables also like peas, beans, carrot and corn etc. as per your tastebud.if you want to avoid APF / Maida in your diet so always use whole wheat or multigrain bread as you may not get the same desired result but yes health comes first always. one more important thing i would like to mention about oil which you use for frying, i personally recommend Use canola if you are not mustard oil lover. but i fried my bread roll in pure mustard oil that is basically healthier than any refined oil. many researches say and had word with best nutritionist they strongly recommend pure mustard oil for deep frying also if you want. so every time i make my tikki , fritters and bread roll in mustard oil only. well for making bread roll you have to dip the bread slices in water then squeeze it gently and make sure all the water has drained off, this would can only ensure that your bread roll will absorb less oil while deep frying so you can enjoy being guiltfree.

Ingrediets :

  • I Onion
  • 1 tbs ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp carrom seeds/ajwain
  • salt as per taste
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp Amchur powder
  • 1/2 cup Suji / semolina
  • 6 slice Bread (white/brown/multigrain)
  • Oil for deep frying (canola/mustard)

Firstly, peel boiled potato then mash it well then add chopped onion salt,carrom seeds, red chilly powder,garam masala, cumin powder and black pepper powder into that.

Dip the bread into water for a second only and squeeze it gentle with the help of palm. and be gentle with squeezing so excess water can be drained off then it will not absorb extra oil while frying the bread roll.

place the potato stuffing on bread slice and mold it in cylindrical shape then gently wrap the bread slice with edged and secure it tight. if you want you can remove the edges also before dipping into water. i kept these edges so it will take extra effort to mold but worth for my because today i didn’t wanted to waste the edges also 🙂

Further, with the help of both hand gently you can roll and make cylindrical shape. later take suji in a plate and coat the prepared bread roll well with suji. it is just an optional process if you want to opt. otherwise you can skip this step and direct you can fry that bread roll also.

Deep fry the prepared bread roll into the hot oil as i have used mustard oil as i said you can use as per your taste. make sure put the bread roll into hot oil else rolls can be soggy.

As you can see i have fried in very less oil for that you have to stir occasionally on medium flame till until golden brown.If you dont prefer deep frying then alternatively you can bake these bread rolls in Airfryer or oven.

Finally, Serve hot potato stuffed bread roll along with roasted tomato chutney. you can also enjoy with ketchup and another chutney and dip.
